UCS100 Installation Notes for Windows ME and 98 The name of the file that you need to download is UCS100RXP.exe. Once you have downloaded the file to your desktop, follow the instructions below. Before you install the new driver, make sure you uninstall the old driver. To do that, Click on Start, then Programs, Look for the USB Card reader and choose the Uninstall option. Double click on the UCS100RXP.exe file. Next, click on Unzip. Next, click on OK. Next, click on Close Next double click on " My Computer " Double click on C: Find the folder called UCS100 and double click on it. Find the file called Setup and double click on it (The icon looks like a CD disk with a small computer in front of it) Then follow the on screen instructions and reboot the computer. When the computer comes back on, plug in the Flashlink. The new hardware wizard will see the Flashlink and install the drivers automatically. The installation is now complete, double click on the " My Computer " icon to see the new drive letters. If the Windows new hardware wizard does not see the Flashlink when you plug it in, follow the instructions below. Sometimes Windows 98 and Windows ME require an additional step when installing. Once the drivers are installed, the reader is plugged in and the computer has been restarted, go to the device manager. You can get there by right clicking on the "My Computer" icon. Choose "Properties" from the drop down box. Then choose "Device Manager". Scroll down a little and you'll see an yellow exclamation point next to usb sm. Highlight that line and click on the Remove button at the bottom of the Device Manager window. When Windows is finished removing that device, click on the Refresh button at the bottom of the Device Manager window. Windows will now correctly install the drivers. You will see two new drive letters in "My Computer". When the UCS100 is plugged into the USB port, the green light should be on. When you insert a Smart Media card into the UCS100, make sure that you insert it Gold contacts facing UP.
